What we mean by a market
A market is a material, product or processing category with its own buyer-question set—for example, PEEK polymers. It is a grouping for this study, not a measure of market size or market share.
- PEEK polymers
- Thermoplastic elastomers
- Masterbatch
- Injection moulding machinery
- Electronic adhesives
- PP compounds
A company may compete in several markets. Each company–market entry is scored separately; we do not blend its markets into one company score.
Two different measures
Citations
Measured answers with a company-owned or mapped associated website among the returned sources. A source listing does not establish an endorsement, recommendation, traffic or a lead.
Brand mentions
Measured answers naming the company, a recognised brand or a registered product. A link is not required, and a mention need not be positive.
Each company counts at most once per answer for each measure. An answer can count for both, either or neither. Citations and mentions are never added together.
How the Top 20 is ranked
The default leaderboard ranks citations: summed appearances divided by summed measured answers across the available platform boards for each market. This is not an average of platform percentages. Platforms with more measured answers carry more weight.
Companies must have valid counts on every measured platform board in that market to enter this pooled ranking. Missing company records are not assumed to mean zero. Excluded entries are disclosed beside the leaderboard.
Equal unrounded rates share a rank. Ties at the twentieth entry are included, so more than twenty rows may appear. A company can occupy more than one row when it appears in multiple markets. Search looks beyond the Top 20; “Show all companies” opens the full eligible list.
Different markets have different questions and sample sizes. The all-market list is a discovery view—not proof that one company is a stronger competitor than another in an unrelated market. Use a same-market comparison to investigate a gap.
Platforms and the buyer journey
Measurements cover available Perplexity, OpenAI/ChatGPT API and Google AI Overview observations. API measurements are not a test of every consumer application's experience. Missing platforms, failed captures and absent overviews are not counted as company absences.
The questions span learning, comparing options, validating suitability, purchasing, and developing or producing. Application areas describe where a material or product is used; they are breakdowns within a market, not alternative names for the market.
The sample uses English questions with US location requested. Repeated runs count as separate answer observations—not separate unique questions or independent buyers. Counts and denominators vary with usable coverage.
What this preview does not prove
Company and domain discovery is incomplete. Rankings are provisional and may change as mappings are reviewed. Low observed visibility does not prove that content is missing, and research-based explanations are hypotheses rather than established causes.
Raw answers and private account research are not published here. This development preview is not approval to publish the study.
