How we increased AI visibility by 10x for a leading advanced materials manufacturer

Making existing technical expertise more visible in Google Search and AI Overviews. 10× monthly Google impressions and 10× AI Overviews

How we used Katelyn to unlock more value from existing technical content

A leading manufacturer in advanced and specialty materials already had deep technical expertise published on its website. The opportunity wasn’t to produce more articles. It was to make the knowledge it already had easier to find, understand and use.

We used Katelyn to analyse existing content and support a targeted rewrite programme. Over the measured periods, monthly Google Search impressions on one rewritten article grew 10.2×, while the number of US keywords with Google AI Overview appearances across the domain grew 10.4×. These are separate measures, covering different scopes and dates.

The Google figures measure search appearances, not visits. The AI Overview figures measure keywords on which the domain appeared, not AI-referred traffic.

The challenge: valuable expertise, difficult-to-use content

The manufacturer’s subject-matter experts had already written detailed technical material. Existing pages ranked in search, but important answers were often buried in dense passages or supporting PDFs.

Some pages also tried to answer several different questions at once—mixing definitions, benefits, applications and comparisons. The challenge was to make that expertise more accessible without starting a large new publishing programme or creating unnecessary work for technical reviewers.

The approach: content engineering, not a content factory

We used Katelyn’s content analysts to examine existing pages at heading and paragraph level.

The team focused on clarity:

  • Rewriting dense passages into shorter, direct answer sections.
  • Giving each page one primary intent.
  • Keeping definitions and immediate benefits on the relevant topic page.
  • Moving application and comparison questions to their appropriate pages.
  • Filling a small number of answer gaps, drawing on existing technical material and PDFs where useful.

This was a rewrite of existing pages, not a new standalone-article programme. The original subject-matter authors approved the rewritten pages with minimal changes.

What changed

One article reached more than 10× its baseline monthly search impressions

The featured article’s rewrite went live in October 2025. Monthly Google Search impressions rose from 11,157 in May 2025 to a recorded peak of 113,886 in May 2026.

That is a 10.2× increase across the twelve-month comparison window—not twelve months after the rewrite.

The domain appeared in AI Overviews across more than 10× as many keywords

Separately, Semrush’s US database recorded growth from 20 keywords with Google AI Overview appearances in October 2025 to 208 in September 2026.

This shows broader domain presence in Google’s AI Overview results. It does not establish that the featured article alone produced that growth. Both results are observed before-and-after changes on a live website, rather than a controlled test isolating the effect of the rewrites.

What this means for technical B2B manufacturers

This case illustrates an alternative to producing ever more content: improve the structure and usefulness of the expertise already available.

For this manufacturer, that meant clearer answers, more focused pages and better separation between technical topics. It also limited the amount of new material requiring subject-matter approval. The programme was followed by substantial gains in measured search visibility, although the evidence does not establish how much of that growth was attributable to each intervention.
